How to get yourself a FREE 80GB iPod, XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii & much more as featured on BBC Newsnight!

Most of you will have heard of this by now, as it’s been mentioned on the BBC and various other TV shows. It is a way to get various games consoles and other electronic equipment for minimal money. Note - its isn't free as many people will tell you, you do have to make a small payment but its a maximum of £10 - excellent value for a free XBOX 360 for example!! 2. On the site that the above link will take you to you will need to sign up with an email address - I advise getting a new address seperate from your current one to keep track of progress, however you will not receive any Spam emails from the company so this is really down to personal choice.

3. You will then need to choose an offer to sign up for from one of the sponsors (Love Film, Mecca Bingo, Sky and various other reputable companies). I chose the lovefilm offer which costs £3.99 for one month and you get a couple of movies delivered for that, then you can cancel your membership. The offers will then be credited to your account (Lovefilm offer takes up to 14 days) and you can move one to the next stage.

4. Dependent on the gift you are going for you will be required to refer a certain amount of people to the scheme, who (most importantly) must sign up to the offers too. For an XBOX 360 Elite system for example you will require 14 referrals, for a Wii system only 9, an Ipod is even less.

5. Once you have completed your offer and have the required referrals the gift will be sent carriage free to your door. You can then carry on referring for even more gifts and you don’t have to take up another sponsor offer.

So how can this work? Here’s my hashed together explanation of it all!!

The companies who run these schemes are able to offer the deal in such a way as this because they gain an income from the sponsors per offer that is signed up for. The number of referrals required changes with each gift relating to the value of that gift. For each gift the actual money the scheme makes from the referrals will equate to far more than the gift is actually worth so the scheme makes a profit.
